Back in Time

This week I went to Civil War Camp. On the first day you got picked on a team. I got on the Union which was the North and Confederate is the South. We also had a speaker come in. He told us facts about the Civil War. He taught us how to fire a musket and he told us how a musket is better for hunting. We also battled. The next day of War we had another speaker come in. She told us about how diseases were the thing that killed the most people. The diseases that killed people were small pox, chicken pox, yellow fever, diarrhea and constipation. The Civil War is where plastic surgery was invented. The next two days were the same except there was no speakers. On Friday we made homemade ice cream. We watched a movie and battled. It was a fun camp.

What did you do this week?

  2. Civil War Camp sounds like it was fun and interesting. I have a book on tape I've listened to several times about President Lincoln and the Civil War. Papa Ray's Great Grandfather was from Michigan and fought for the North in the Civil War. He was captured by the Confederates and spent several years in a prisoner of war camp in Andersonville, Ga. He wrote a book about his experiences in the war.

Hope you're having a good week this week. We had a picnic today with some of our family from here in Ohio. It was fun to see them all and catch up on what they've been doing. That was my fun this week.

    I love and miss you.

Ps. Isn't someone having a birthday pretty soon????

  3. Hey Max,
Good to hear that you are interested in the Civil War. When you go to Pennsylvania, ask Grandma Miller to show you the picture and enlistment papers for her great grandfather who was in the Civil War and enlisted at Gettysburg. Also, I recommend climbing the rocks at Devil's Den in Gettysburg.

    See you soon,

    Aunt Nancy

  4. Aunt Nancy,
Thanks for the recommendation. I might try it if we go to Gettysburg. I'd liked the Civil War camp a lot because it was very interesting.

I can't wait to see you next week.

  5. Nana,
I'm glad that you got to see your family in Ohio. I am in Pennsylvania having fun with my cousins. They have a pool at their house. It is the first time I ever got to swim in it. I can't wait to see you at Christmas.

    Love,
    Max
